A New Thai Visa for Employees of SET Listed Companies?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing possibility of a Thai Visa, perhaps a 10-year long Thai Visa for someone who is working as an employee of an SET listed company.

For those who are unaware, the SET is the Stock Exchange of Thailand. It is highly beneficial. Usually large companies find a great deal of benefit here in Thailand being listed on the SET but for purposes of this video, the reason I bring it up was I came upon a recent article in ASEAN NOW, that is aseannow.com, the article is titled: Thailand Proposes 10 Year Visas and Land Ownership for Foreigners, Again. To quote directly: "The final group" and these are groups of people who may be eligible under a new visa scheme for a 10-year Visa, one of them specifically is being listed as highly skilled professionals, quoting directly: "The final group are the highly skilled professionals, SET listed companies, or from a Company with an annual income of more than 50 million dollars."

So it is interesting that it looks like part and parcel of this is these policy makers, these folks that are on this commission to try and come up with some improvements if you will to the Thai Immigration system, there is a lot of it that has to do with attracting wealthy VIPs. There is also a component of this where they are trying to attract foreign talent from abroad to come to Thailand, folks that are professionals that have specific skill sets that may be working in large concerns here in Thailand to go ahead and provide those folks with a possible long-term Visa option. Presumably it seems that work authorization would be built into this type of visa not unlike the current Smart Visa program here in Thailand. So it is interesting to me that they are seriously, sincerely looking into the possibility of allowing folks who are working in these big companies to come into Thailand longer term.

Now these rules have yet to be formally announced; we have yet to see any actual regulations so the actual practicalities of this remain to be seen, if this even comes to fruition if we ever actually see this actually promulgated. We will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
