As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Retirement Visas and as I have discussed in some other videos I made contemporaneously with this one, yeah "Big Joke" has been making some comments about Retirement Visas and when "Big Joke" talks about Retirement Visas you probably want to listen. For those who are unaware "Big Joke" refers to "Big Joke" Surachate Hakparn former Head of Thai Immigration, now the Deputy National Police Chief who was recently quoted regarding Immigration matters in the Bangkok Post, in a recent article titled: Driving out the gangs, Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com.

Quoting directly: "A lack of inspection of bank statements by Immigration Bureau (IB) Officers also leaves room for some foreigners to window-dress their bank accounts. Some even get help from Visa agencies or Immigration Bureau Officers, such as the case in which 107 Immigration Officers helped more than 3,000 Chinese Nationals involved in "grey" businesses obtain visas in February, he said." And he is Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn. So when "Big Joke" says that inspection of bank statements may be warranted, yeah, you want to take note of that. Because again for those who don't go back to 2018 and '19, haven't been out here that long, this may not make a big dent, but for those who have been around a while when Big Joke talks on Immigration matters, it is a good idea to pretty well perk up and listen because he has made major changes to the Immigration System in the past. In this same article he discusses even amending present Immigration Law or putting through basically proposals to amend present Immigration Law and when someone in his position who has the track record he has says these things, it is a good idea to take notice. 

Now the purpose of this video is not to frighten anyone or panic anyone, not at all the purpose. Nothing has changed regarding rules for Bank statements etc. in the context of for example Retirement Visas or other types of visas. But in the future you never know, things can change. Now again, not meant to frighten, as we have discussed in other videos the possibility of grandfathering certain individuals in who have been dealing with the Immigration system as it has been lo these past 20, 25 years at this point. Yeah I imagine there will be something like that. Again it remains to be seen because there hasn't been any major change but when Big Joke starts commenting on Immigration, I am going to take note of that and I am going to pass that along because I think it's something to just keep in the back of your mind, we might be seeing changes to the Immigration rules, we might be seeing changes to the Immigration Laws some time down the road.
