MORE Changes To Thai Airport Immigration Procedures?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing MORE changes to protocols associated with Airport Immigration in Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Automatic processing for outbound foreigners from next month. Quoting directly: "Most outbound foreign travellers will be able to pass through automatic channels to quickly board planes at Suvarnabhumi Airport and relieve congestion, from next month." Quoting directly: "Police Major General Choengron said Airports of Thailand plan to also install more automatic channels at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airports. Immigration Officers could then be reassigned to speed up processing of inbound travelers."

Yeah, this kind of looks a lot like the way the US does it where outbound, you almost don't even notice that there is a security presence. You just sort of pass through the gates and just sort of leave; you don't really go back through a process of dealing with US Customs and Border Protection. It looks like Thailand is kind of taking a page from that book of saying "hey people outbound, we are not going to prioritize so much, we will put them in an automatic lane. People coming inbound, we need to scrutinize them because they are coming into our country and we need to know who is coming in, why and what are the facts surrounding foreign nationals travelling in to Thailand." Now that said, hopefully what we will see happen from this will just be faster processing at both sides. So, people leaving will be able to leave through the automatic kiosks and it will speed up their process to leave. By that being an automated process, they can repurpose Thai Immigration Officers to inbound processing and thereby even speed up inbound processing on top of everything while still keeping a certain level of scrutiny associated with people coming into Thailand. So this is I think major good news. Hopefully this will be in place for high season so we can see more efficient processing of tourists coming into the Kingdom of Thailand.
