A Million Ways To "Skin A Cat" With Retirement Visa Banking?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing visas, specifically Retirement Visas and banking associated therewith. I thought of making this video after reading a recent email from a viewer. Quoting directly: "Dear Sir," you don't need to call me sir, it's just Ben. "Dear Sir, In a recent video you mentioned that in fact no bank is granting interest for Retirement Visa. It appears that many retirees seem to receive interest rate generated by their deposit, some of them even having fixed accounts. Thank you for clarifying."
Okay, so this is one of those things, there's the old saying, there's a thousand ways, a million ways, whatever, more than one way to skin a cat if you will which is just kind of a hokey saying from back where I am from which basically just means, look there is different ways to do things. And this banking thing associated with Retirement Visas, this is an example of that. I have seen, yeah I know retirees that have interest bearing accounts as well. I think it oftentimes depends on the timing; it oftentimes depends on the bank, the internal rules within that bank, but yeah, there are different types of accounts out there. Many of them are usable in terms of as evidence for a Retirement Visa for maintenance thereof.
What are we talking about there? Well things like the minimum 800,000 Baht balance or showing the ongoing pension coming into an account. Yeah different folks have different sort of benefits and protocols associated with their specific bank account. Again, oftentimes that is going to be driven by internal bank policy; sometimes it may be driven by circumstance depending on the timing of when one sets up their Bank Account in relation to when they got their Retirement Visa. So again, it's going to depend a little bit. I know I sound like a broken record, every case is circumstantially dependent, every case is different. This is one of those examples. There are going to be folks with different types of banking facilities associated with Retirement Visas here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
