Long Holiday for Thai Immigration?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing a long holiday for Thai Immigration. I got to thinking of making this video after reading a recent article in the Pattaya Mail, pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Long break ahead at Pattaya-Jomtien Immigration Bureau. Quoting directly: "Chonburi Immigration has announced that it will be closed to the public for 5 days from Wednesday July 13 to Sunday July 17 inclusively. This is in line with public holiday arrangements nationally as July 13 and 14 are sober religious holidays (with a full scale alcohol ban) whilst Friday July 15 has been designated an extra public holiday to boost domestic tourism. Immigration nationwide reopens on Monday July 18." So something to bear in mind there. Immigration is going into, well is in a long holiday likely by the time this video gets posted and they are not going to reopen until Monday July 18, so something to keep in mind.

Folks who are looking to deal with Immigration extensions, Visa extensions etc., not only down in Pattaya but nationwide, you are not going to be able to deal with things until Immigration reopens. Now for those out there who are stressing, bear in mind Immigration policy has always been, if one's Visa expires over a period of time when Immigration is closed due to a holiday, it is possible to deal with that matter on the next available opening date. So those who didn't know there was a holiday and they just are looking at their passport before probably doing a search online and eventually finding this video and saying: "Oh my gosh, my Visa expired on the Friday that they were closed. I didn't know that they would be closed. What do I do, am I in overstay?" You need to get to Immigration first thing Monday when they reopen to deal with the matter.

Yeah, there is a policy in place to essentially catch folks who fall into one of these situations where their Visa has expired. That being said, you need to deal with it early and often and yeah it is probably not going to be the most pleasant experience but it has been our experience that Immigration Officers can and will deal with such matters so long as it is clear that that person is getting down there on the next available day to deal with their Immigration situation.
