Foreigners "Snap and Snarl" at Thai Immigration Rules?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing foreigners "snapping and snarling" about Immigration Rules. What are we talking about here? Well I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thailand's 10 and 20 year Visas face surging Chinese demand. The thrust of this article is in a very different direction from this video. I am going to quote a small excerpt here. I urge those who are watching this video go check out that article in detail, a lot of interesting information, good insight in there about possible future tourism here in Thailand as well as some of the longer stay visas. But I thought this except was interesting.

Quote: "European expats may snap and snarl at these long stay visas as they grapple with the ever-changing Immigration rules for one year renewals. But Thailand isn't looking in their direction right now." Okay, what are we talking about here? Well one, the snapping and snarling is about the Thailand Elite and the LTR visas because quite frankly they are more expensive than standard one year visas. They're also kind of talking about how there has been significant ongoing changes to the Thai Immigration System going back really to about 2018. We started really seeing, especially in the retirement categories, we started seeing things change. We saw some major changes occur in the Retirement Visa space going back about a month ago where we saw new requirements come online for the O-A Retirement Visa associated with insurance requirements or money in the bank associated with being able to show coverage for medical problems. But again, these are not super huge differences and I would argue the notion that the Immigration Rules are ever changing, I don't think that's quite right. I do get what they are saying; it is rather fluid, and it does kind of feel like and I use that word specifically "feel like", it's not really a logical notion, it just kind of feels like the Immigration System is in this constant state of flux all the time. To some extent it is. Now this may just be kind of a byproduct of what we do here in our office or maybe my thinking is a byproduct of this, we just deal with it all the time so it doesn't really bug us, and I get it. If you only deal with this once a year and it's radically different from what it was the year before, it's probably a little bit galling. And honestly for those who feel like they are a bit overwhelmed by the rules with respect to extension of status, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
