"Extended Stays For European Tourists" In Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing European tourists here in Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Samui seeks longer stays for Europeans. Interesting article here. I urge those who are watching this video, go check out Bangkok Post, read that article in detail, a lot of good insight there. Quoting directly: "Tourism operators on Koh Samui are urging the Government to allow extended stays for European tourists as they believe the proposed visa exemption for Chinese visitors will not benefit the island." Quoting further: "The Government should extend the period of eligibility to remain in the country from 30 days at present, to 60 - 90 days for visitors from Europe, Israel and Australia."

Yeah, good points there. Interesting that Samui brings that up because Samui I would argue, is probably more acutely aware of the needs of the tourism industry here in Thailand than really maybe folks are even up here in Bangkok, even on the mainland, because Samui is so dependent on tourism, I would say that they again are very, very, very acutely aware of the needs of that industry. So it is interesting that they point out that 'hey look, Chinese visitors aren't a major benefit to us down here in Samui, but there are a number of visitors from the collective West if you will, down in Australia that are avid visitors to Samui and there may be some benefit to the tourism industry by relaxing some of the rules regarding visa exemption status for those type of tourists'.

Now whether or not this will actually come to fruition remains to be seen but we will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
