Does Thailand Court Scandinavian Retirees?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are posing the question "Does Thailand Court Scandinavian Retirees?" Why would I think of that to make this video?

Well the reason I thought of it, I read a recent article in the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Every cloud has a silver lining. Quoting directly: "He said the way of life and warmer weather in Thailand are key factors helping to persuade elders from Scandinavia and Japan to choose Thailand as their preferred destination." If you go in there and read that article in detail, and I urge you to do so, a lot of insight in there. They are talking to somebody from TAT, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, about possibly bringing in more long-term retirees, getting more retirees into Thailand.

Yeah I think it is a fair statement to say that Thailand really does like Scandinavian retirees. I think they like all their retirees but Scandinavian retirees seem to like Thailand too. You will go certain places where it is almost like a little Norway or a little Denmark or a little Sweden in some of these beach towns, Hua Hin, Cha-am, even Pattaya, getting even down to Rayong in some cases. Yeah I definitely don't think it's incorrect to say that Thailand very much encourages Scandinavians of all nationalities in that region, encourages them to come to Thailand to retire. And let me be clear, I don't think that means they are looking to exclude anybody else for example the Anglo-speakers or something like this, or people from sort of continental Europe, I just think that for whatever reason over time, there has been a demand or maybe an affinity built up among Scandinavians to come to Thailand and Thailand has sort of welcomed them with open arms and it has been a good experience by all. So yeah, it doesn't really surprise me to read in some place like the Bangkok Post, that they are encouraging retirees from that region to come to Thailand.
