Do I Have to Quarantine in Bangkok?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing quarantine. We are specifically discussing it in the context of Thai Immigration or Thai Visa processing.

A question that has come up a lot here recently has been "Do I have to quarantine, must I quarantine in Bangkok?" The short answer to that is "it depends". The longer more precise answer to it is, "it depends very greatly on your nationality and your country of origin". So there are some Thai Embassies and Consulates which may allow you to go ahead and gain a Certificate of Entry and come into Thailand and go through what is called Alternative State Local Quarantine or it is also called Alternative Local Quarantine as opposed to Alternative State Quarantine which is sort of the standard method of quarantining.

Alternative Local Quarantine, this label pertains to those places which are not in Bangkok; hotels which are outside of Bangkok. It is going to depend Embassy by Embassy whether or not you can obtain accommodation in an Alternative Local Quarantine facility as opposed to Alternative State Quarantine. That appellation seems to apply exclusively to quarantine hotels here in the city, in the metro area in Bangkok. As of right now again it is varying from country to country so depending on your circumstances it may be possible to be quarantined elsewhere in a facility outside of Bangkok but for many I suspect, at least for the immediately foreseeable future, I think quarantining in Bangkok may be mandatory. Again that is going to depend on the specifics of your case but it is likely that it may be prudent to presume that.
