"A Deterioration In Confidence Regarding Thailand's Safety"?

Transcript of the above video:

So the title of this is a quote, I am going to get into all this here real quick, but it comes down to this whole, I don't know where the heck this popped up. In the past two or three weeks this whole narrative has popped up that Thailand is unsafe; the safety of Thailand.

I thought of making this video after being recent article for the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: State eyes alternative to B300 tourist levy. Quoting directly, and the thrust of this article goes in a different way. They talk about this so-called Tourist Levy, we have called it a Tourist Tax in the past. I made a video contemporaneously with this one where we discussed that in detail. That said, quoting further: "Amid a deterioration in confidence regarding Thailand's safety, the Tourism and Sports Ministry is studying several options to offer insurance coverage of 500,000 baht per person in case of injury and 1 million Baht in the event of death from an accident." Let's just get into this whole notion of lack of safety; I don't know where this is coming from. We have discussed, media outlets seem to be talking about this but I am not seeing it coming out of the Anglosphere, I don't really see this coming out of Western Media, I am not seeing it coming out of any of the other local media down here in ASEAN or really anywhere else. It seems primarily that this whole thing that Thailand is somehow unsafe is coming from China and I don't know why, I really don't. I don't get it, why China has deemed Thailand "unsafe".

We did a video of some time back, it was a little bit snarky. I called it "Okay China". And I said at the time I was taking that tone kind of "okay boomer" when they were saying "oh you come to Thailand, you will have your kidneys cut out and they will be sold", organ trafficking and all of this stuff. One, I am sort of wondering if that is sort of an incident of what can only be described as ‘national projection’ but okay set that aside. Thailand is not unsafe. Let's just objectively state that; Thailand is not an unsafe country. Now can things happen? Do crimes occur? Yes, crime occurs in any country, in countries which are traditionally considered to be safe, it does happen. Does any kind of person crime really happen on the streets of Bangkok or really anywhere else in Thailand? Not that I have particularly ever seen. You may have to worry about a pickpocket or something here or there but primarily, no. It's a very safe country. It is one of the reasons I like living here quite honestly because it is quite safe; it is quite civil and it is quite a nice place to live.

So this whole notion of ‘a deterioration in confidence regarding Thailand's safety’, a deterioration in confidence by whom? That is my question, because I don't know any reasonable people that come here to Thailand and truly walk away feeling like this place is unsafe.
