Could Thai Immigration's 90 Day Reporting Policy Change In 2024?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are posing the question, could the 90-day reporting policy change in 2024? I have actually had a bunch of people ask me this and I don't know where it is exactly coming from. There must be a forum or something out there where somebody has gotten it into their mind that this 90-day reporting thing might be scrapped.

I have heard a lot of talk even from people that say that certain visas don't need to conform to the 90-day reporting policies. I don't know where they get the authority for that because the Immigration Act of 1979 says what it says, and at the end of the day look you either have a Non-Immigrant Visa or you have Permanent Residence, Lawful Permanent Residence not one of these visas where they say you have residence, no, real Permanent Residence; that is the definitive difference within the '79 Act, you either have Permanent Residence as a foreigner and therefore you don't have to deal with things like 90-day reporting, or, excuse me you either have Permanent Residence and don't have to deal with 90-day reporting or you don't have Permanent Residence and you do. So setting aside to people that say "well there are certain visas you don't have to do it on." I don't know where they get the notion that that is the case because that's not what the Act says.

In any event, the thing to take away from this video is could they change 90-day reporting? They might. In fact, I am kind of hoping we may see some revisions to Thai Immigration Law in a more fundamental way although maybe we won't, but I think some changes to the law are probably warranted. Will things change? Remains to be seen. I wouldn't hold my breath and I would probably presume you are going to have to keep dealing with 90-day reporting in 2024.
