CLARIFICATION: Thai Immigration's TM6 And TM7 Forms
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing TM6 and TM7 Forms. What specifically are we talking about here? Well in a prior couple of videos actually, I had been quoting an email from someone who was a viewer and we were talking about for example the gap between TM6 and TM30 but I constantly kept misspeaking and saying TM7 because in the underlying email, that person referred to the arrival card as the TM7. To be clear and the purpose of this video is to clarify.
TM6 is the old arrival/departure card associated with travelling into Thailand. Quite honestly, it looked like a traffic ticket in the West, we will put it up on screen. It was an elongated form, you had to fill it out when coming in. Now TM7, and we will go ahead and put that up on the screen, I went ahead and printed one, TM7 looks like this. TM7, again we will put it on screen, TM7 is actually and I will just quote it: "Application for extension of temporary stay in the Kingdom", that is actually the sort of baseline form if you will; it is sort of the core form associated with extension of Visa status here in the Kingdom. That is a different thing from the TM6 arrival card and yeah sorry I got to saying TM7 because I was reading that misnomer from the email and I just kind of went with it; when I get on these videos, I just start going and my mind just kind of blanked out.
I want to clarify that. TM6 and TM7 are two different things. The TM6 has been effectively phased out but as we discussed in prior videos, that phase out has sort of led to this 90-day if you will kind of limbo period now where arguably one's address is not on file with Thai Immigration. I think there is a solution for this; I am making another video contemporaneously with that this one where I discuss at least in my mind how you can sort of deal with that "gap" but I wanted to make this video to clarify yes TM6 is the arrival/departure card, no longer in use; TM7 is the Thai Visa Extension form associated with Visa Extension applications which yes is still in use at least as of the time of this video.
