Changes To Rules On "Cash Deposits" For Thai Retirement Visas?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing "cash deposits" associated with Thai Retirement Visas. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that's pattayamail.com, the article is titled: What Thailand's expats can expect from the new government. Quoting directly, and I'm going to quote a small excerpt. I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article in detail for your own perusal. Quoting directly: "Expats on annual extensions can expect to see tightening of the rules regarding cash deposits and comprehensive medical insurance, as anticipated recently by Deputy National Police Chief Surachate Hakparn." And that is Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn, we have made videos here recently discussing that situation, discussing the fact that the former Head of Thai Immigration, now Deputy National Police Chief made comments regarding the Thai Retirement Visa scheme noting that the financial requirement was too low and also there is some discussion as to whether or not the O Retirement Visa, again not to be confused with the O-A Retirement Visa, may soon require insurance.
Again, none of this has come to pass and I hope that viewers really understand that yeah as of the time of this video everything is as it has been to this point. The financial requirement associated with the Thai Retirement Visa remains as it was; the insurance requirements associated with the Thai O Retirement Visa remain as it was in the past which is there is no requirement. That said, there is some discussion moving forward that this may change especially as we have seen a transition in Thailand's Government. Now again I think that there is some reason to believe that in the coming couple of years we may see some major changes to the Retirement Visa scheme. That said, everything at this point remains speculation but we will keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
