As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question, "Can a Thai passport be bought?" And I don't mean for this video to be viewed as sort of unseemly or some sort of operation in untoward waters or sort of doing anything illegal basically, that's not what we are talking about here. 

There are programs in other countries where Citizenship by Investment is a possibility, i.e. citizenship can effectively, I hesitate to say fully purchase because at the end of the day there does seem to be some level of adjudication associated with those applicants who wish to seek Citizenship by Investment in other jurisdictions, but in a sense yeah you could say that it is possible to buy a passport so long as you meet relevant criteria in countries that allow for Citizenship by Investment. So the question posed is "Does Thailand allow for Citizenship by Investment?" And in point of fact No, there is no Citizenship by Investment program here in Thailand. 

Now one may be able to put one self on the path to Thai citizenship for example by working for a prolonged period of time in Thailand; payment of taxes here in Thailand; living in Thailand for a prolonged period; obtainment of Thai Permanent Residence for example, and work authorization as well puts one on the path to ultimate residence and citizenship possibly if one meets all the relevant criteria otherwise. 

So the thing to take away from this video is No, Thailand does not have a Citizenship by Investment program but it may be possible, now it's a longer-term process, it may be possible to put oneself on the path to Thai citizenship through effective means of setting oneself up here in Thailand or getting a job and working in Thailand for a prolonged period of time, there may be methodologies of ultimately obtaining Thai citizenship in the long term.
