As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai Retirement Visas posing the question, "can all Thai Retirement Visas be extended in Thailand?" Now to be clear, there are multiple different categories of Retirement Visa now. There was a time when I was talking Retirement Visas and generally speaking the only differentiation was the difference between O and O-A. 

I thought of making this video after reading a recent comment on our channel, quoting directly: "Can one get an O-A extension in Thailand or must do it a nearby Embassy in a neighbouring country or does the extension get changed to the O Visa if extending in Thailand?" Okay, that's a good question. Now again, we are talking about the difference between an O-A and an O Retirement Visa, specifically with regard to extension. 

Now the thing to take away from this video and understand is the fact that there are more categories now of Retirement Visa than just the O and the O-A but in the vast majority of cases that we see, you are going to be dealing with either an O-A or an O Retirement Visa. So, the question posed, "can you extend an O-A in Thailand?" Yeah the answer is Yes, we've done videos on that in the past. Now the protocols associated with extension of an O-A versus an O are different, most notably the insurance requirement exists in the extension process for an O-A Visa but does not exist in the extension process for an O Retirement Visa so there is a qualitative difference between the two processes. But yes, in fact both of those types of Visas can be extended here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
