The question posed in this video is what happens to my Business Visa status or my Visa status generally, if my Work Permit is cancelled? Long story short, it basically cancels the Visa as well although it is two different pieces of documentation, policy dictates that upon the cancellation of a Work Permit, the Visa is automatically expired. There is a little bit of nuance there with respect to how the cancellation is perfected. In the past there wasn't a real requirement regarding cancellation of the Work Permit, the perfection of that to make sure that was filed absolutely correctly and so there was a little bit of wiggle room regarding,” well did the B Visa actually end or does it end when it ends if it has a later expiration date?” These are all kind of very semantic technical questions. 

Long story short and the sort of rule of thumb is if you are canceling your Work Permit, presume your Business Visa is cancelling as well. It may be possible to obtain like a 7-Day extension of stay of that Business Visa if the Work Permit is canceled and that will allow somebody basically the time to get their affairs in order to leave. But in certain circumstances I have seen it where NO they just took the position that boom the cancellation of the Work Permit occurred, the Business Visa died at that moment as well.

So best rule of thumb and a good piece of advice may be to front load all your issues with respect to your Work Permits or better still, have a legal professional who deals with Work Permits frequently undertake the process of Work Permit cancellation in such a way that you are not adversely impacted by the way that the Work Permit is cancelled.
