As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing "Big Joke". I am not really trying to pick on "Big Joke. We have discussed on this channel Big Joke quite a bit going back into his tenure as Head of Immigration, specifically in 2018 and right around that time where a lot of crackdowns were occurring. There was a lot of policy change in Immigration and a lot of it happened on his watch so I have always kind of kept an eye on Big Joke. He has definitely had, it has been kind of a wild ride so to speak with respect to when you are following his career. 

Recently this came to my attention. I haven't seen very much in the English language press on this but we did come upon this. One of the Attorneys here in the office who deals with a lot of Immigration stuff brought this to my attention. This is from thestandard.co, and the URL title is: Surachate Sit at Human Trafficking President. We will put this up on screen, this is Thai language but basically to translate the headline: Appointment of Police Lieutenant General Surachate Hakparn as Chairman of the anti-human trafficking task force. As you can see, this is all in Thai. I was discussing this here in the office and we thought about just translating the whole thing but decided to just go ahead and I would just talk about what this means. Basically Big Joke has been appointed to head a human trafficking Task force. It is essentially a body that will dealing with human trafficking matters.

Now to be clear, he is not back in charge of Immigration so that is not what's going on here but he is operating in kind of a similar capacity if you think about it because in a way human trafficking has Immigration implications. It is kind of more the heavier enforcement side if you will of Immigration stuff. So it will be interesting to see how this progresses.

For those who keep track of such things, “Big Joke” has definitely been, he definitely had a major effect on Immigration policy here in Thailand so I have always kept an eye on him and it will be interesting to see how things progress.
