This is some pretty big news. When "Big Joke" starts talking about Immigration, my ears perk up quite a little bit and I'm just going to get into it here. It's from a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Driving out the gangs. Quoting directly: "Once a new Government is in place, he will propose through the Police Chief that the new Cabinet amend the Immigration Law especially for visa extensions." He being Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn who we have discussed many, many different times on this channel going back to when he became the Head of Immigration Police and remained so for quite some time and made a lot of major changes within the Immigration apparatus. 

Now and I urge those who are watching this video, go ahead and check out that article, see that stuff at detail. Now he is talking about making major changes to Immigration Law itself in the possible upcoming Government or I should say possibly in the upcoming Government, seeing changes to the actual Immigration Law specifically on Visa extensions. Now let me be clear to those watching this, do not freak out, do not panic, nothing has happened yet. This is just someone talking about plans for the future. To promulgate a new law regarding Thai Immigration, that would have to pass through Parliament; there are a great many aspects of the due process associated with that, it's not going to happen overnight. The other thing is and I will probably do another video on this at some point talking about I suspect there will be some level of grandfathering to one degree or another if any Law comes into place that changes the existing status quo if you will regarding visa extensions.

That said, this is noteworthy and I am going to be doing another bunch of videos contemporaneously with this one talking about all the issues associated with this because this is a pretty darn big deal. When “Big Joke” starts talking about Immigration policy it's a good idea to listen and here he is talking about the possibility of amending current law regarding extension of status. I think that's something to take note of. Now is it something to get all "Chicken Little" about and say the sky is falling and to get panicked? No, but I think we could be seeing some changes to the Immigration System in Thailand possibly in the upcoming year ahead.
