Assistance with Banking Matters in Thailand
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing banking services. You know, it's not something that years ago I would have thought folks would really have needed, but in light of recent developments - and I have done a number of videos recently and over the course of the past couple years - especially in light of the fact that we have seen OECD raise its ugly head out here, and all sorts of for lack of a better term, foreign undue influence on Thailand's banking sector, but that was mostly occurring under the last sort of Rump Coalition Government as I called it. That said, we still see through lines of it in this government; now it doesn't fully come online until 2028. My hope is cooler heads prevail and folks here in Thailand see just how dangerous stuff associated with OECD is. I have some forthcoming videos coming on that topic but suffice it to say - and I've said it a lot - I find OECD to be a real problem.
Now what are we talking about in this video? Well look, I've seen a number of folks over the past few months that have contacted us for nothing more than assistance with banking. And then on top of that, a lot of new folks contact us, and I see a lot of comments in videos that we make that are saying things like, "What bank should I use? Can you recommend one?" Well it kind of changes because different banks have different protocols; their own internal protocols shift over time. Some banks are good to use at a certain time, and then later on, they may not be so optimal, especially for purposes associated with Thai Immigration.
That being said, we can assist in many ways with matters pertaining to banking, especially for new folks that are just coming into Thailand, especially for folks that don't yet have things like their Retirement Visa set up yet. Yeah, it may not be a terrible idea to contact us because we can assist with matters pertaining to banking. We have been doing a lot of that stuff lately, especially in connection with Immigration. Now again, there's some of these problems that have turned out to be intractable or nearly intractable. We have seen situations where folks' accounts have been frozen; we have assisted them in liaising with the bank, ultimately getting their money freed up, but then I remember one client turning to us and said, "should I keep using this bank?" and I kind of raised an eyebrow at him and said "do you want to, after all of this experience?" At the end of the day they closed their account and moved over to another bank. That may be what has to happen; it depends on the circumstances of a given case.
That being said, for those who feel they are a bit overwhelmed by all this stuff associated with banking here in Thailand, it may not be a terrible idea to contact a legal professional, gain some insight and guidance into how best to proceed.
