Are Visa Runs a Thing of the Past in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are talking about Thai Visa Runs. These are unlike Border Runs. Border Runs as we have described in another video made contemporaneously with this one, Border Runs are basically when someone goes over a border in order to cross back in to Thailand to gain lawful status.  A Visa Run, in my opinion the definition of a Visa Run is going to a Thai Embassy or Consulate outside of Thailand, affirmatively obtaining a new visa and coming back in to Thailand.

Do I think it is going to be feasible to do a Visa Run between now and the end of the year? As a practical matter “NO”.  It is theoretically possible. We have provided some information on this channel about how YES, there are folks who have been going to their home country for example, getting a new visa and returning. It is an arduous, cumbersome process but it is possible.

Do I think it is going to be possible here regionally as a practical matter? Again, through December 2020 I would say not. Into the foreseeable future past that, I would say a good chunk of 2021, I would say a Visa Run is going to be cumbersome, possible perhaps, but I would say it is going to be far more cumbersome compared to the past, compared to the process of doing a Visa Run in the past where you basically went over to for example Phnom Penh for a couple of nights, went through the Thai Embassy there, got your visa and came back in to Thailand. As a practical matter I am not sure if that is going to be overly feasible moving forward.

That stated, we will keep you updated on this channel as the situation progresses.
