Are Tourism Numbers in Thailand Climbing?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question, "Are tourism numbers in Thailand climbing?" I got to thinking of this after reading a recent article in the Thai Examiner, that is thaiexaminer.com. I urge those who are watching this video to go check out that article.

Quoting directly: "Visa free for all put forward by industry meeting hosted by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). Quoting directly: "The proposals from the meeting which ranged from declaring Thailand mask-free outdoors to eliminating temperature checks on arrival, come as the Kingdom's foreign tourism numbers appear to be climbing with some industry insiders suggesting The Tourism's Authority target of 8 million visitors this year may be surpassed and a figure of up to 15 million seen by the end of 2022." Well that is all good news. 8 million visitors this year may be surpassed, good. Thank God.

Now that said, we were at 40 million in 2019 so we have got a long way to go but it's definitely good to hear that maybe we can get up to 15 million by the end of the year. I really hope that that happens. As I have said in other videos, I think one of the things we have got to do to make that happen, we are going to have to roll back all of these requirements and restrictions; the sort of cumbersome Byzantine processes one has to go through to even get into Thailand because until such time as a lot of that is gone, I think there is going to be suppressed demand to come into Thailand just because people are going to say "I am going to go someplace that doesn't make me do all that, that doesn't make me jump through all those hoops." Hopefully, at a policy level we will see some changes on this sooner rather than later. We will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
