As the title of this video suggests, we are asking the question, 'Are Thai companies the key to Permanent Residence?' it's a good question. 

There's a lot of these visas out here now that purport to provide long-term status, and they even use the word 'Residence'; I don't think that's correctly used. Residence in my mind is Lawful Permanent Residence. That's the ability to just remain in a given jurisdiction indefinitely, without hindrance. None of these visas in and of themselves offer that, none of these new categories. Thailand Elite for example is a long stay Visa, it's kind of akin to like a really long VIP Tourist Visa; LTR Visa, again it's called a Residence Visa, it does not confer Lawful Permanent Residence. On top of that in my mind, there are a lot of downsides on top of that as well. 

But the thing to take away from this video is those that maintain a standard Work Permit and Visa, or even BOI Certification but under a company, oftentimes that has been our experience that that is the most certain way, the most certain path to Permanent Residence is working for a company, maintaining Work Permit and Business Visa status or whatever Visa status that can go along with your work authorization, although some work authorizations are different than others, that gets into its own analysis but when working for a company here in Thailand just your standard small company set up with a Business Visa and a Work Permit, yes it can be the path to Lawful Permanent Residence here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
