Are Special Tourist Visas Just Phase One of Thailand's Reopening?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests we are discussing Special Tourist Visas. We are specifically discussing this in the context of the possibility that this may be the first of many stages or phases if you will of reopening for tourism in Thailand.

In a recent article from the Bangkok Post, that is bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Ministry Vows Bangkok Special Tourist Visa Arrivals by October. Quoting directly: "During the first stage of reopening," I want that noted, first stage reopening, "international flights will be limited to three flights a week with 100 tourists per flight or 1,200 tourists per month." Quoting further, and this was from bangkokpost.com: "During the first stage of reopening," again they say that again, "during the first stage of reopening, international flights will be limited to three flights a week with a 100 tourists per flight or 1,200 tours per month according to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration." Quoting further again and they are quoting Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, who is the Tourism and Sports Minister and they are quoting him directly: "If operations in the first month run smoothly without triggering another outbreak, we aim to increase carrying capacity in the next phase." So this is some hope.

Now I know, and I have had a lot of criticism from folks in this channel and in emails and things where they say you kind of tend to look at worst case scenarios, well as an Attorney, that is my job.  I have to look at how bad things can turn out but I do try to stay optimistic where possible and this article specifically reiterated "first stage" multiple times and they noted specifically from the Tourism and Sports Minister that they would be looking at possibly increasing carrying capacity should this first phase go positively; should things go over well. So hopefully we may be seeing further reopening much in the same way we saw domestically things begin to reopen here in Thailand over time in these kind of phases to the point now where pretty much everything is going as normal. Hopefully we will see this in much the same vein with respect to tourism as time moves forward. Rest assured we will update you as things progress on this channel.
