As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Insurance in the context of Thai Retirement Visas. To preface this video, it is worth noting that effectively speaking, in the vast majority of cases where you are dealing with a Thai Retirement Visa you are dealing with two categories: either the O Retirement Visa or the O-A Retirement Visa. These two categories are fundamentally different from one another insofar as one requires Insurance associated with both the issuance of the Visa as well as extension thereof and one category does not. So namely the O Retirement Visa does not require insurance for extension or promulgation for that matter but the O-A Retirement Visa which is oftentimes the type of Retirement Visa that will be issued at Thai Embassies and Consulates abroad, those types of Retirement Visas do require insurance. 

I thought of making this video after reading a recent comment on one of our prior videos talking about Retirement Visas. Quoting directly: "Only the insurance on the list of approved carriers can you renew the O-A in country." Yeah, good point. We have done videos on that in the past going through the approved carriers of Thai Insurance for purposes of maintaining the O-A Retirement Visa. It is something of a small list in terms of compared to all the insurance carriers around the world, but yes there is specific documentation pertaining to the insurance coverage that may not be easily issued by other insurance carriers and the ones that are on the approved list so to speak are probably going to be easier to get that documentation issued from. 

So the thing to take away from this video is yes for those Retirement Visas that do require insurance which are not every Visa category, we are talking O-A Retirement Visas only, the insurance required to extend such status, yes there is sort of a short list of insurance carriers that can issue such documentation.
