A 3 Year Thai Business Visa?

Transcript of the above video:

I am just going to go ahead and jump in. I thought of making this video on Business Visas after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Elite Card is winning the battle of Thailand's longstay visas. A lot going on in that article. I urge those who are watching this video to go check that out in detail but there was one tiny excerpt that I thought was worth noting. Quote: "A 3-year Business Visa was promised but was never delivered by Thai Embassies abroad." Now what are we talking about here, what is this person talking about here? What's this article talking about here?

Well yeah, there was a time, I remember when they used to actually list this on Thai Embassy websites, it was like a unicorn. It was sort of out there in the ether that you could get these 3 year multi; I actually saw one once. Gosh that has to have been 8, 9 years ago, maybe 7, probably more like 8 though years ago I actually saw one of these. They were issued; it was possible technically to get them but they weren't issued with any kind of frequency and that's an understatement. I mean they just virtually weren't issued at all. But yeah and there technically is I think still on the books, a regulation that does allow what is called a three-year multi-entry B Visa. For those who are unaware, there was a time when you can get a one-year multi entry B Visa where basically the Visa's validity was for a year but every time you entered Thailand, you get 90 days of lawful status. The 3 year version of this was similar but it had a 3 year validity but you only got 90 days every time you entered the country. I don't know why it was created. I kind of understand why they never really used it because it didn't really have a purpose insofar as it is like well if you have one of these 3 year visas, what are you doing there? Are you really working there? It kind of posed some problems. It also had issues with respect to work authorization once one was in Thailand.

So again, it is kind of one of those things that it has definitely fallen by the wayside, I don't think we will ever see them as practical matter again. But even when it did technically exist as a possibility out there, again I kind of liken it to a unicorn insofar as it was just kind of out there in the ether and you never really see one issued.
