10 Year Thai Visas for 50,000 Baht?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing 10-year Thai Visas for 50,000 Baht? You can buy a 10-year Thai Visa for 50,000 Baht? There has been a bit of misconception out there, some misnomers roaming around the ether that is the internet in the past roughly week, 10 days or so, well past couple of weeks; I may have inadvertently sort of contributed to this. We did some videos talking about the so-called LTR visas, the long-term residence visas which as I have discussed at nauseam are not actually Residence Visas, that is actually another misnomer that is out there. The title of the article I was quoting from the Thaiger, thethaiger.com, was talking about how they cut the filing fee for these proposed long-term residence visas from 100,000 Baht down to 50,000 Baht and people were sort of thinking, and we have gotten emails and correspondence, this is a misunderstanding. Yeah, that's Government fees, that is not the whole kit and caboodle and maybe I didn't suss that out well enough.

I got to thinking of this when I was reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Six frequently-asked Thai Immigration questions in May 2022. A good article, I urge those who are watching this video, go check that out. There is a lot of good information in there. Quoting directly:

“Is it true that you can get a 10-year visa for 50,000 Baht?”

Quoting further: "No, it is based on a misunderstanding. The Government did announce that the registration fee for the new 10-year visas have been reduced from 100,000 baht to half that amount. The details on what assets you need to obtain one of these visas has not yet been published but will certainly run into several millions of Baht. The idea is to encourage wealthy foreigners such as serious investors, highly paid executives and retirees with well above average income. This is what is meant by "Quality Visitors".

So yeah, I thought I had got that across in prior videos as much as possible that the financial requirements associated with this are different. They are separate from just the fee, the government fee associated with this proposed travel document. Again we don't know exactly what these requirements are, it hasn't been fully hammered out. The previous videos we did on LTR Visas have gone into what has consistently been touted as the criteria associated with this but again nothing has been promulgated; we have seen no regulations yet so until then we can't say with any certainty exactly what the rules associated with assets for these proposed Long-Term Visas are going to look like.
