"10 Million" Foreign Tourists in Thailand by Year End?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the possibility of 10 million tourists in Thailand by the end of the year. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thailand's "revenge tourism" boom reflected in Cambodia too. A lot of information in there. I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article. I am going to quote one quick excerpt out of this. Quote: "Thai Authorities have pulled out all the stops to boost numbers. The intention is to have 10 million foreigners setting foot before the end of the year although 8 million looks more feasible."
Yeah, I have got to say and I have been critical of Thai policy over the course of this year. Folks know where I stand on things like the "mask mandate", so-called mandate, whatever that means. Leaving that aside, I have got to say the last couple of months, Thailand has really kind of gotten behind lock step if you will, getting this economy back up and going, getting tourism back up there, seeing those numbers improve. I think nothing could be better than 10 million tourists for Thailand, I would love to see 40 million again like 2019, that would be great, anything frankly is better than what we were dealing with a couple of months ago so nowhere to go but up from there.
But I do have to say in terms of policy implementation, making things more conducive for tourists to come to Thailand, the Government in the past few weeks especially but the past couple of months too, has really done a good job. They are moving things forward and I myself am rather optimistic about high season. I am hoping we definitely see a major shift in terms of the numbers. I think there are a lot of things that auger well for that, I mean a lot of developments in terms of things like Cannabis policy changing, that seems to be attracting some interest to Thailand, as well as the fact that comparatively, Thailand is pretty much to the best of my knowledge, the easiest place to get into in Southeast Asia now. Couple that with the fact it is such a great tourist destination, I am hoping we are going to see some serious numbers and I am hoping we see them sooner rather than later.
