Proposed Changes under the US Citizenship Act of 2021

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing possible changes under the US Citizenship Act of 2021 currently being proposed. To the best of my knowledge at least as of now, this remains a Bill; it has not been promulgated into law yet, it remains to be seen.

An interesting part of this, one major thing just some notes here is it looks like they are looking to reduce backlogs with this and also it looks like they are going to try to increase some of the quotas. There is currently a cap based on nationality of different folks being able to get Immigrant visas. It has not really ever been an issue with Thailand because there is just not the volume but countries like the Philippines, China, Mexico, they have issues with respect to the country cap. They want to go ahead and up that.

There are also quotas associated with preference petitions. You have to be able to get a Visa number in order to be able to actually process a case and there is a cap on the number of those and it looks like they want to go ahead and at least relax that cap or maybe they will try to pull it off entirely.

Again this Bill has yet to the best of my knowledge, at least as of the time of this video, this has yet to become law but these proposals would add let's just say it would change the complexion of Immigration Law moving forward so I thought it was worth making a video to just look at what some of the possible ramifications of this Bill being enacted could be.
