A "Brain Drain" from Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the concept of a "brain drain" from Thailand. This seems to be something that has been talked about a bit on the internet.

I thought of a recent article from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Fears of a "Brain Drain". Quoting directly: "Last year, due to "brain drain" of healthcare staff in the Philippines, the Government had to prohibit them from leaving during the outbreak. It is an example of a "brain drain" that can occur in Thailand in the future if the Thai Government does not find ways to improve the situation for the new generation of intellectuals. It must be difficult for the Government to admit that millions of people are not happy about their administration but they should keep an open mind and consider feedback that may benefit the country." This was an interesting article. I urge those who are watching this video to check this out. People have asked me about this; I have had a few people asked me this in person. This came up, we talked about it in a prior video where they were saying that Embassies were trying to attract Thais to their countries. Well I didn't really see that that was what was going on. I more saw it as Embassies were just promoting their brand which their brand is their country in a way. But the notion of a "brain drain", do I think there are going to be a few folks and sort of the young intelligentsia, maybe that decide they want to leave Thailand but I just don't see some mass exodus really occurring.

I bring this up, not really to make an opinion piece within this video. This is just from the standpoint of an Immigration Lawyer who deals with a lot of Immigration to the US and a lot of Immigration into Thailand. I just have not really seen there is this pressing demand for a lot of people who are looking to move out of Thailand, at least not to America. Now maybe there are other countries they are all running too. Now this again looks to me like something that maybe the media a little bit is, it is something to discuss so the media is obviously going to report on it but it looks to me as if it is something that may be is a little bit of sensationalism going on here where people are trying to make this look like a much bigger phenomenon than in practice it actually is.
