Thai Land Appraisals May Be Put Off for Another Year

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai Land appraisals. The reason for this is we are talking about government appraisals and these appraisals are used for assessment of taxes.

Some pretty good news for folks who may have property in Thailand. Quoting directly from an article in the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: New Land Appraisals Likely Postponed. Quoting directly: "The Treasury Department is expected to ask the Land Appraisal Committee to postpone the adoption of new appraisal prices by another year." Quoting further: "if approved by the Committee when it is requested by the Department in November, the new land appraisal prices will go into effect from January 1, 2023, a delay from the original date of January 1, 2020."

So interesting. This could have ramifications; probably will have ramifications if it is approved insofar as folks won't need to worry about increased taxes on their property for 2022. This may apply to condos too as an appraisal can happen there as well so this could impact more foreign nationals than might seem at first glance. That being said we don't know exactly how this will come down because we haven't actually seen them undertake one of these new appraisals.

So, at least for 2022 it looks like, we are going to get a reprieve from this and hopefully, I am sure there are many who would hope that it just keeps getting postponed forever but you never know. We will keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
