So, Is Cannabis Legal in Thailand?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are posing the question "Is Cannabis legal in Thailand?" The reason I am posing that question, I have done a number of videos on this where we have been talking about the increasing legalization, decriminalization however you want to look at it, of Cannabis in Thailand and then this article popped into my brain from the ether of the internet. It is from the Bangkok Post, bangkokpost.com, the article is titled: Police cuff woman for cannabis plant. Quoting directly: "The Police told him to put up at least 15,000 Baht for his wife's bail. However, he could not find the money and so his wife was remanded in police custody and spent Monday night at the station. Thanakrit Vorathanatchakul, Director of the Coordination Office at the Nitivajra Institute under the Office of Attorney- General, said generally there is no legal liability against individuals who grow Cannabis for personal or medical use since Cannabis has been removed from the narcotic plants list under the Public Health Ministry's regulation."

Yeah, there seems to be a lot of this going around lately. A lot of perfectly innocent stuff, perfectly legal things happening. I won't get into anything else, let's stay on point here but it seems as though there is a lot of colour of law overreach happening with people who aren't really doing much of anything wrong. For those out there, yes, Cannabis is moving towards a very much more legalized state than it once was here in Thailand, but understand those who are watching this video, especially foreigners, you need to be careful for exactly this reason. When the law evolves, that can be a kind of dangerous time for trying to do things that are on sort of the cutting edge because you may find yourself out on that edge without a lot of support.

So something to take away from this video especially for foreign nationals, be very careful about Cannabis, Cannabis products at least for the relatively near-term foreseeable future in my opinion, because we are not quite at that point of equilibrium where everything has just kind of evened now and everything is sort of smoothed over.
