Endemic in Thailand Sooner Rather than Later?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the overall situation regarding whether or not this thing is going to be endemic here in Thailand. I got to thinking of making this video when reading a recent article from the Nation, that is nationthailand.com, the article is titled: Thailand Covid crisis nearing end, will be endemic soon: Ministry. Quoting directly: "The Covid-19 endemic is nearing an end thanks to cooperation between different sectors especially the public, Public Health Ministry announced on Sunday.” (There was a spokesman quoted in here but I am just going to go ahead and keep quoting here). Quoting directly: "He added that Thailand has entered the latter part of the pandemic and should soon be able to declare the disease endemic."

Well that would be great. I hope it is done sooner rather than later because we really do need to put this behind us. I don't really understand exactly why we have to sort of plod along here at the end and not just get on with it. Many other countries have gone ahead and just declared this thing endemic. I am not being an expert in public health or medical science or anything but just sort of a commonsensical common man's look at the thing, it looks to me like this thing has pretty well run its course; it is now just something we are going to have to deal with; it is not especially now, not the existential threat that we once were worried about and it has been 2 years of our economy being really battered, especially the tourism sector and we really need to get it back. Nothing would be better for Thailand than for us to get our tourism sector back in line, keep things working, keep things moving along and hopefully we can put this past is this summer hopefully. I would love it if it was yesterday that we had already done this but here we are sitting here kind of waiting with bated breath. Hopefully it will happen this month here in June of 2022 and we can finally fully put this thing behind us.
