Certification of the American Presidential Election?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing certification of the US election. I thought I would go ahead and make this video. For those who aren't American and that don't really sort of understand how our system works, the actual election of the American President in the true sense of the term, actually occurs on January 6 in America. What are we talking about here? I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the AP, that is apnews.com, the article is titled: How Congress will certify Trump's Electoral College victory on Jan. 6.

So the thing to understand is each of the 50 states has their election on election night, the second November, I believe it's the second Tuesday in November. That election occurs and then if you go back in time, especially to the olden days, there was a lot of time that would occur between an election, counting the votes, and then sending the certified electors to the national capital, to Washington DC, in order to sit in a joint session of Congress and voice their election of the next President. That in turn needs to be certified by the US Vice President. The one thing to understand is the only affirmative duty of the US Vice President in all the Constitution is certifying the election. That is it, that is all. So that is what they do and on January 6 they are going to be doing it.

Quoting directly: "The Congressional joint session to count electoral votes on Monday is expected to be much less eventful than the certification four years ago that was interrupted by a violent mob of supporters of then-President Donald Trump who tried to stop the count and overturn the results of an election he lost to Democrat Joe Biden." First off, this whole narrative, I am not going to say right, wrong, or indifferent, I have discussed this in my personal channel. Long story short, there were a small subset of people who did directly sort of interfere in the process and then there were a bunch of people outside the building that to my mind really weren't doing much of anything. The other thing was - not getting too deep into this - but it has been described as an insurrection. The best retort I have seen to that is well people show up at insurrections with firearms. Nobody showed up some four years ago. So, there's a lot of hyperbole that went into the protest that surrounded the last certification of the Electoral College. Again, I still think we are not fully going to know how all that went down, probably for another five to ten years, that seems like the kind of retrospect you need in order to really get an idea of what actually happened. But that being said, I think that this certification this year in 2024, excuse me 2025, is going to be far less eventful.

Quoting further: "This time Trump is returning to office after winning the 2024 election that began with Biden as his party's nominee and ended with Vice President Kamala Harris atop the ticket" By the way, side note, I think there's half a chance we could actually see Harris as the first female President in the remaining days of this current Administration. For a variety of different reasons, I just think it's a possibility. I am not saying it's a foregone conclusion, but just something to possibly look for. Quoting further: "She will preside over the certification of her own loss, fulfilling the constitutional role in the same way that Trump's Vice President, Mike Pence, did after the violence subsided on January 6, 2021." Notably, I took a lot of heat for this on my personal channel where I said, "look I do respect Mike Pence to a certain extent. He did his job. Amidst all of that chaos, the man did his constitutional duty. I expect Mrs. Harris will likely do the same. Quoting further: "Usually a routine affair, the Congressional joint session on January 6 every four years is the final step in reaffirming.." No, no. It is the election of the President, because what it says here is, "the final step in reaffirming a Presidential Election..". No, it is the Presidential Election; that's the function of the Electoral College, and then that function is certified by the Congress - a joint session by the way - the House and the Senate. Quoting further: "..after the Electoral College officially elects the winner in December." Yeah, the Electoral College elects and then it's certified, that's the conclusion. It's not a reaffirmation, it is simply the certification of something that has occurred, and that certification is a necessary formality in the joint session of Congress so that the Presidential Election can be concluded. Quoting further: "The meeting is required by the Constitution and includes several distinct steps." And I urge those who are watching this video, go check out that article in the AP if you want to go through all the detailed steps. But long story short, again "required by the Constitution." It's not a meeting, it's a mechanism. It's a Constitutional function that has to occur. I really am getting tired of the media using inaccurate terminology to describe these things.

That being said, that's sort of a brief breakdown of what is going on with regard to the certification of the US election. I expect that that should be done within the next probably 24 hours of the making of this video, but we will certainly keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
