Isaan Leads the Pack in Thai Property Market?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the Thai Property Market. I was recently reading an article in the Phnom Penh Post and the Phnom Penh Post every once in a while will publish something very insightful on Thailand like something, I think when you are outside of something you get a little bit better perspective on it and I thought this article was interesting. The title is: Thai property slumps in South, picks up in Isaan. Quoting directly: "A recent survey by the Government Housing Bank's Real-Estate Information Centre (REIC) shows that though fewer new property units are being released in Thailand's South, the property market in the northeast is recovering fast. "This year, the Isaan Market has 3,928 new properties, up by 60.3% from 2,450 units during the same period last year," REIC acting Director General Wichai Viratakaphan said on March 25. REIC estimates that Nakhon Ratchasima and Khon Kaen have seen the highest number of new properties added to the market this year at 1,917 and 1,195 units marking a 106% and 66.4% increase year-on-year, respectively."

That was really interesting to me. Being in Bangkok folks here in Bangkok unfortunately and I am definitely guilty of this too, kind of have a tendency to view the world through the Bangkok lens. Bangkok is almost, it has got its own gravitational pull in terms of what you are thinking and you tend to kind of look at Bangkok; again Pattaya, Hua Hin are kind of in the orbit down here but I wasn't really thinking of Isaan and yeah, it does look like that there could be major developments in the property market or already have been and it looks like there are going to be further developments as the year moves on.
