Thailand's New Data Protection Law

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thailand's “new” data Protection Law we say new because it's not quite that new. To go into that, I am going to quote a recent article from aseanbriefing.com, the article is titled: Thailand Issues First Personal Data Protection Act. Quoting directly: "Thailand's first ever law on personal data protection will come into force on June 1, 2022, after being postponed since 2019. The law outlines the obligations for businesses regarding the collection and processing of personal information. The Government is expected to provide a grace period for SMEs to comply with the new law."

So again, this thing isn't, I think we did a video on this at the time briefly, it is not new. It was promulgated some time ago but we are only now seeing it pop back up and as noted in this article, there appears to be grace period briefly to sort of get everybody acclimated to it. As noted in the other video which was some time ago, I mean this was kind of a long time coming. Thailand had been working on this for a while and now they have got it and it looks like it is going to be implemented pretty quickly now. We will keep you updated on this channel as the situation evolves.
