Thai Police's Crusade Against Child "Exploitation Rages"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing exploitation of children here in Thailand. We have done a number of videos here recently, ever since going back, I think the first one we noted came as a result of "Big Joke", Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn, Deputy National Police Chief here in Thailand getting involved after this documentary, this German documentary which seem to impugn the Thai Police. We did a video recently. "Big Joke" went over to Germany and it turns out that no the Thai Police were not in any way complicit and he got written statements to that effect. Meanwhile the whole issue though it has become, it has been brought to the spotlight and in my mind as much as I don't want to be talking about these topics, it is good in the sense that we need to get it out there in the open and I think it's great to see Thai Law Enforcement taking this seriously and going after people who are engaging in quite honestly this absolutely just abhorrent behaviour.

That being said, I thought of making this video after reading two recent articles, one was from the Thai Examiner, that's thaiexaminer.com, the article is titled: Police arrest shocked UK man on Bangkok Street. Nabbed for underage sex with a child prostitute. A couple of things, I will get into this in a minute. Quoting further: "35-year-old UK national faces serious criminal charges after paying for allegedly sex with a minor. Decision taken by Police to pursue people who avail of such services as the crackdown on abuse of minors in Thailand continues." Quoting further: "Police, on Saturday, took a UK national into detention charged with hiring out a minor for prostitution. 35 year old (and I have redacted the name. It is throughout the ether of the internet, you will probably see it when we post the citations for this article. I am just going to redact it because this person hasn't been convicted yet, so that has just kind of always been the policy of this channel. Where possible we just redact the name, but it is not particularly hard to find out there) "(name redacted) was accosted," (accosted? Well he was arrested) "by Crime Suppression Division officers on the street in Bangkok and taken into custody. He is charged with taking a minor away from her parents or guardians for indecency sometime in or before August 2023."

Then there is another article, this one is with THAI.NEWS, that is thai.news, so www.thai.news, the article is titled: British man (named redacted, again in the title the name is there but I am going to redact it) "arrested in Bangkok over exploitation charges in Hua Hin. Quoting directly: "As this saga unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the challenges that lie in protecting the innocent and the relentless pursuit of those who seek to do harm. The story of (name redacted) is more than just a cautionary tale," (well it shouldn't be a cautionary tale. You shouldn't be doing this stuff, it's evil and wrong okay? it's an immoral tale, if it's anything), quoting further: "is a testament to the tireless efforts of Law Enforcement to ensure that justice prevails, even in the face of denial and deceit. In the heart of Thailand, the battle against exploitation rages, a narrative of resilience and hope amidst adversity." Yeah it's good. I think, again I don't want to really be talking about this on this channel or otherwise, it is not a pleasant topic but if there are folks out there that are targeting children, they need to be targeted and they need to be dealt with by the justice system. I think the Thai Police are doing a great job going after this scourge quite honestly.

Something I also, throughout both of these articles and in prior articles I can think of, for example in Thai Examiner and I am not picking on them, I don't want to say that but in the vernacular everybody does this; it's a colloquialism if you will. People will say "oh so and so got caught with an underage girl, or so and so got caught with an underage prostitute, or this happened with an underage person." I don't like that terminology, I don't love it and the reason is there is no such thing as an "underage girl", there's a child under the law and there's not a child, there's an adult, that's it. That's the distinction. This, "oh so and so got caught with an underage girl!" Look, I've been a young man myself in this world, I get it, especially in the United States we have things called Romeo and Juliet Laws where an 18 year old who is dating a 17 year old, that's okay because there is this legal distinction between those two ages but as a practical matter, at that age it's not morally wrong. If you have had a birthday and your girlfriend's birthday is 6 months later and you are 18 and 17, does that make you a monster for having a girlfriend that is 17 years old? No. But if you are 57 and you are pursuing a 17 year old, yeah I have got some serious issues with that. Again that legal barrier is a differentiating factor depending on the underlying facts is maybe the best way to put it. But long story short, yeah that whole terminology of “underage girl”, no there's no such thing as an underage girl! There are children or an underage boy for that matter, there's a child, that's it. And again I think it is laudable that the Thai Police are taking initiatives that they are taking, to again deal with this matter in an efficient, hopefully an effective manner, so that hopefully the day will come that I don't have to read these stories on this channel and I hope that day comes sooner rather than later.
