Investigation By "Big Joke" Absolves Thai Police In Sex Abuse Case?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing we are discussing "Big Joke" yet again. That is Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn, Deputy National Police Chief and the person who has been basically put on duty to investigate this situation involving a German documentary which supposedly seemed to uncover some kind of sex abuse scandal here in Thailand; well it turns out there is more to that story.

I thought of making this video after reading a very recent article from the Thai Examiner, that is thaiexaminer.com, the article is titled: Big Joke says police and Thailand vindicated after German trip where sex abuser recanted his story. Quoting directly, and as usual, Thai Examiner goes into great detail on this; I urge folks who are watching this video go check out that article in detail for a lot more nuance and insight, quoting directly: "Police investigation finds that Deutsche Wells TV exposé on Pattaya underage sex arrests was unethical. No substance was found in the claims made by the documentary that officials in Pattaya were bribed to let a German businessman fly home after being arrested in an underage sex crackdown." Quoting further: "Big Joke or General Surachate Hakparn heralded his trip to Germany as a success this week. It came after a written statement by 55-year-old German businessman arrested in Pattaya in September, 2022 for underage sex, absolved police in the city of complicity in his escape from justice in Thailand. The letter was handed over by German Police. Afterwards, General Surachate blamed the media outlet Deutsche Wells TV and unethical behaviour by journalists for the controversy raised in December when an explosive TV exposé was aired in Germany and worldwide online."

So if this is the case it is very unfortunate that as they say, the truth, or excuse me "a lie travels around the world while the truth is still getting out of bed" and this is kind of one of those situations, if everything here appears as it is in this article which is this apparently did not occur the way that it was portrayed to have notwithstanding the fact it could have and might have had a tremendously detrimental impact upon Thailand especially the tourism sector right in the heart of what we call the "high season" over here in Thailand. So leaving that aside though, it does appear again from a letter that this person promulgated on their own, that it absolves the Thai Police of any sort of incorrect or inappropriate behavior associated with this case.

So again, as we discussed in prior videos and I do believe this will continue to be the case, Thai Police are very concerned about issues involving trafficking and sex abuse especially involving children. I don't think that is going to change just because we now seem to have found out that this story did not have, well it was not as credible as it at first appeared.

So again, the thing to take away from this video is one, it does appear that the Police again have been absolved all of this but the other thing to understand about Thailand and Thai Law Enforcement is that this increased activity if you will or this increased interest in pursuing people who abuse children or anyone for that matter, sexually or otherwise, will be pursued by the Thai police and it looks to me like it will be pursued with a great deal of fervour.
