Is Cannabis Thailand's New "Cash Crop"?

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Cannabis in Thailand. In a recent article from the Nation, that is nationthailand.com, the article is titled: Public Health Ministry Kicks off Ganja Growing Project. Quoting directly: "A group of households in Buri Ram's Non Malai area will receive Ganja plants on Thursday as part of a pilot project allowing the cultivation of marijuana for commercial purposes." This was on February 10th, 2021 that that was noted.

It looks like that the Government Public Health Ministry is going full steam ahead with the notion of Marijuana, Cannabis, Ganja, whatever you want to call it as a cash crop here in Thailand. I think we are going to see possibly more widespread cultivation of this particular crop and we will keep you updated on this channel as the situation progresses. The regulatory structure behind this and I can't stress this enough, if you are a foreign national here, you need to be really careful with this because there could be substantially detrimental ramifications legally especially with respect to criminal law in Thailand if you are found in violation of various narcotics rules and regulations or just the laws regarding narcotics here in Thailand.

So, for a foreign national you want to be really careful but I think longer term this is certainly good news. I think this is being done in an effort to perhaps even boost Thailand's economy in the longer term, create a sustainable aspect of Thailand's economy that can create jobs and economic benefit into the near and further future.
