"Big Joke" Continues Crusade Against Human Traffickers in Thailand?
Transcript of the above video:
As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing “Big Joke” yet again who is currently continuing what can only really be described as a quest or a crusade against human traffickers here in Thailand. Full disclosure, in my opinion more power to him, that's great. Human trafficking it is a scourge and I think this is a very good thing.
I thought of making this video after we saw in the Thai language press, on dailynews.co.th, we will go ahead and put that up but I am going to go ahead and just here in the office I had one of the folks here in the office translate this over into English. Title: Presenting the results on underage sex offenders, increase in human trafficking resulting in Thailand being made a tier 2 category. "Surachate Hakparn, Deputy Chief of Police announced the statistics on increased arrests for underage internet sex offenses for 2565, more than from the setting up of the TICAC Center during the whole of 2558 - 2564 combined. This also resulted in expanding to include many cases in human trafficking which resulted in America moving Thailand to the tier 2 category." So Thailand did move up on this this list. Quoting further: "On May 22nd at the Police Headquarters (Prom Nok Hall) General Damrongsak Kitiprapasorn, Chief of Police and Lieutenant General Surachate Hakparn, Deputy Chief of Police in his capacity as the Director of the Center for Protection of Children, Women and Families and Prevention of Human Trafficking, Marine Division of the Thai Police Headquarters together with Lieutenant General Pananchai Chuenchaitham, Special Advisor to the Royal Thai Police in his capacity as the Head of operations for TICAC, (that's Thailand Internet Crimes Against Children)" quoting further: "Took part in greeting Mr. Kyle Livingston, Division Chief Bureau of International Labor Affairs, US Department of Labor, Ms. Laurel Hoffner, International Relations Specialist, Bureau of International Labor Affairs, US Department of Labor, Miss Tiwaree Wiranyasopprasong, Political Science Specialist with the US Embassy who came to study the task force on Thailand Internet crimes against children because in the year 2565, the statistics showed an increase in arrests regarding internet crimes against children resulting in more arrests than the statistics for the year 2558 - 2564 combined which also extended to many cases of human trafficking. This resulted in Thailand being moved from the tier 2 watch list to tier 2 which is an improvement on the previous year."
So yeah as you can see, this is all good news. Thailand's moving up on the watch list for human trafficking and it does appear that Thai efforts, especially Thai Law Enforcement efforts, with regard to the apprehension of child sex offenders via the Internet have been bearing fruit. So long story short, just in the context of this specific issue, this is good news and let’s everybody bear in mind, Thailand takes this stuff seriously. This is not something that they have that the prior government nor do I anticipate that the forthcoming government will be remiss about. I suspect there will be continued assiduous action toward the end of preventing not only child but human trafficking generally, here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
