Thai Tax and Sovereignty: Why I'm Angry About Foreign "Stamp-Pimps"?

Transcript of the above video:

People have been asking me recently why I am so upset about these foreigners coming to Thailand and illegally operating and providing tax advice regarding Thai Tax. I'm not talking about how tax, there are American Tax people out there that do things involving helping people like file their tax returns for the USA, whatever, fine. That's the USA, okay, but Thailand or UK or wherever else, filing Tax matters for your home country, that's not what I'm talking about, okay. Foreigners should not be coming here and discussing in any way or dispensing advice in any way as to Thai Tax Law and dispensing any kind of advice regarding how Thai Tax Law works. I'm not saying I should. I talk about it in an educational sense on this channel but again, well I have the firm here; we have the accountants here; we handle Thai Tax matters. I'm a Thai national, I'm an American attorney, I'm licensed in the US Tax Court, but again I'm not a Thai practitioner. The Thai practitioners on tax assist me here.

The point I'm trying to make though is tax prerogatives are sovereign prerogatives of Nation States. Foreign nationals coming in and interfering in those sovereign prerogatives and in those sovereign policies and overtly operating illegally in spite of the restricted occupations and dispensing advice regarding, in this case, Thailand's tax system is appalling, it's illegal, and quite frankly, I personally as a Thai and as an American, I wouldn't want a bunch of Thais rolling into America and start advising people on our tax laws. Why is it now okay that Americans just come here and get to do this? I'm tired of this. If people wonder why I get so upset about this, it's why do we just allow people to operate illegally? Where is the Thai Government? Where is the money we put into Law Enforcement? What are you doing about these foreigners coming in here and telling people how our tax system works here in Thailand? What is that? No country should have to put up with that. And is this the IRS's policy to send agents into Thailand and interfere in Thai Tax matters? Is that what we're all about? Because if it is, I'm not all about it, and I'm tired of it, and I'm tired of the Americans with this constant, "hey we have long arm jurisdiction." No we are a republic, we're not an Empire. You don't get to go out and tell people in other sovereign countries how their tax policy should work. I'm sick of this. It needs to end and it needs to end now.
