As the title of this video suggests we are discussing work authorization, specifically Work Permits and the interaction between that and accounting. A lot of people don't think of this but accounting and work authorization, Work Permit are very much linked. 

Let me give you some background here. We actually formed an accounting division within our firm as a result of the needs dictated by Thai Immigration; clients of ours that needed Immigration matters handled and clients that needed Work Permit issues handled. Seemingly, the two would not appear from the outside to have anything to do with one another but it became a real nightmare dealing with people's accounting teams that just were completely oblivious as to how things needed to be done for foreigners that were looking to have or maintain a Work Permit and a Business Visa here in Thailand. At first glance one would think "oh that is not an issue" but really, honestly Thai Accounting Firms that deal with a lot of Thai businesses they don't need to really concern themselves with matters pertaining to foreigners that are looking to maintain immigration status, it just doesn't come on their radar, and that was the reason we formed the accounting division because accounting is just so integral to dealing with one's Business Visa and Work Permit status here in the Kingdom. 

So maintaining and updating your monthly account filings, dealing with things like VAT filing on an ongoing basis, things like Social Security contributions, this all comes into play with respect to work authorization as well as Business Visa status. For this reason, it is a really good idea to contact a legal and accounting professional that has a real grasp of how this interacts with Thai Immigration Law.
