As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing Thai holidays here in Thailand. I thought of making this video after reading a recent article in the Pattaya Mail, pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thai Immigration holidays May 2024. A lot of really useful information in that article, I urge those who are watching this video, go check that out for more details. So Monday May the 6th is in recognition of Coronation Day that actually occurred Saturday May 4th.

The Thai Government often does this when a Thai holiday such as Coronation Day occurs on a weekend, they will do a makeup day on the first following day, in this case Monday May the 6th. We are also looking at Friday May 10th Royal plowing ceremony - a public holiday - and Wednesday May 22nd Wisakha Bucha, a public holiday. So again we have got three of these here in Thailand during the month of May, sort of be aware of that.

It should be noted that yes if your visa for example is going to expire and it happens on a public holiday, generally speaking they will give you a one day grace period to deal with that the next day. Generally speaking though it's not the best idea to depend on that if you can avoid it. In my opinion it's oftentimes a better thing to go ahead and try and get your immigration stuff sorted out before a holiday would be occurring because you don't want to put yourself in a position where if you don't have all your ducks in a row on that day of your grace period, you could end up in a situation where you find yourself out of status. That is not a good place to be in and could result in an overstay and if you are apprehended in overstay, a possible arrest and deportation and blacklisting. 

So something to bear in mind, but yeah we've got some holidays here in the month of May and I thought it was relevant to viewers of this channel to be aware of that.
