Timing Of 90 Day Reporting With Thai Immigration

Transcript of the above video:

As the title of this video suggests, we are discussing the 90-day report. For those who are unaware, yes those who are in Thailand on any kind of a Non-immigrant Visa - I know there are those out there that say "well the LTR Visa doesn't require the 90-day report"; how do they go about doing that because the Immigration Act of 1979 has not been amended to change the requirements associated with 90-day reporting. LTR Visas are Non-immigrant Visas otherwise they would be Permanent Resident Visas. So therefore that analysis is invalid in my opinion and I don't understand why people go around saying that. To my mind, everybody in non-immigrant status is stuck dealing with 90-day reporting.

Leaving that aside, let's just talk about the vast majority of people who are dealing with a Non-immigrant Visa which does require 90-day reporting. Yeah you have to deal with this if you are in the country in a non-immigrant status and you stay in the country for more than 89 days at a single stretch, you have to file the 90-day report in order to advise as to one's address here in Thailand. To be clear, and I have made videos on this before, I don't think that this is the most optimal way to deal with this issue especially in the digital age, but it is what we have to deal with.

So I thought of making this video after reading a recent article from the Pattaya Mail, that is pattayamail.com, the article is titled: Thai Immigration Holidays May 2024. A lot of good information in there. I urge those who are watching this video go check out that article in detail. Quoting directly: "Expat foreigners wishing to report their address under the “90 days” rule can report two weeks (14 days) before they have been in Thailand for 90 days or one week after." Yeah, there has always been this kind of grace period window if you will, a window in time in which one can file their 90-day reports, that they can do it before or after, it doesn't have to be done on the exact 90th day and you even get a little bit of a grace period after the 90th day because Immigration is aware, people forget and things like that. That said, yeah you do need to continue filing those if you are maintaining Non-immigrant status here in the Kingdom of Thailand.
